Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2, 2026.

Who we are

We are a group of professional Tax Preparers that help Sex Workers file the mandated tax forms necessary for Self-Employment.

Our website address is: https://sexworkertaxes.com.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We collect information you provide when contacting us or requesting tax services, including contact details and the records needed for your tax work. Please request secure submission instructions before sending sensitive documents.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms and newsletter subscriptions

Our visitor contact form collects your name, email address, phone number, and reason for contacting SWT. Submissions are stored in our WordPress form-response system through Jetpack and can be reviewed by site administrators. Email notifications are configured to send submission details to our designated staff mailbox; staff may forward those notifications to an internal mailbox used to handle requests. Email providers process these messages as part of delivery. Older submissions may include an optional tax-law email preference.

The separate SWT Tax Law Updates signup uses Jetpack Newsletter, provided by Automattic, to manage email subscriptions and deliver IRS news updates. Follow any subscription confirmation instructions shown. Newsletter subscription is optional and is not required to request tax help. Use the unsubscribe link in a newsletter email to stop updates, or contact info@sexworkerstaxes.com for assistance. Read Automattic’s privacy policy.

Do not submit tax documents, Social Security numbers, or IP PINs through either form. Request secure submission instructions.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We also use Google Analytics, connected through Google Site Kit, to understand website traffic and how visitors use our pages. Google Analytics may use cookies and process technical information about your device, browser, page visits, and interactions. Google Search Console helps us understand how our website appears in Google search results. See Google’s privacy policy for information about Google’s processing. We use Jetpack site statistics to review visits and referrals. Website services may process technical visit information. See Automattic’s privacy policy for information about its services.

Who we share your data with

Tax information may be provided to tax authorities and service providers as needed for authorized tax services, or as required or permitted by law. Tax return information is subject to applicable restrictions on disclosure and use. Website services, including spam prevention and analytics, may process technical information.

How long we retain your data

Our retention policy for website inquiries that do not lead to a client engagement is 12 months after the last contact. Staff review and delete those records from the website response system and designated email mailboxes when that period ends, unless a legal, security, or dispute-related need requires longer retention. Inquiries that become client engagements are retained with the related client records. Newsletter subscription records are managed separately to honor subscription preferences and unsubscribe requests.

Tax records are retained as needed for services and applicable legal, administrative, and security requirements. Destruction of paper documents does not necessarily mean deletion of retained electronic records.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Secure intake and portal setup

The website request form does not collect Social Security numbers, bank details, or tax documents. If the last four digits of your Social Security number are needed to create your portal account, staff will request them separately through our encrypted texting system. Staff create your secure portal account and email an invitation link. Return completed intake documents and the signed engagement agreement through the secure portal, rather than ordinary email or the website contact form.
